    Carl Built

The bandpass is a Morgan systems M-431CB. The lowpass is a MFJ-704. The carl built was just over 35db down at the first harmonic before adding the filters. With the filters the harmonics practically do not exist. A good side effect is a very low reflect power number from the antenna.

That's one of the disadvantages of running some power while in town. The base station gets out slightly better than it hears, although my noise floor was pretty good today at S2.

    Qrm eliminator mobile use

For a QRM eliminator to work the noise needs to be from a fixed location relative to the antenna, not the situation when mobile.

Nice audio 917! The band is up and down on my end but your audio made the QSO happen.

Driving pills well under max capability definitely helps keep the output clean. The filtering is a good plan, I run a band pass filter between my radio and amp, then a low pass on the amp output. Make sure the filters are rated more than the power you plan on running. Your 120 amp supply...

    Carl Built

The Lincoln 2+ backed by a Carl Built 400hd is one of the combinations I run. It will run approximately 600pep on AM and SSB. This combo sounds awesome on the air and never gets hot no matter how long its keyed up. Be sure your electrical system is solid, I'm running a 220 amp alternator and a...

    Carl Built

My Carl Built biased HD400 is run at 150 carrier, 650pep. Pulls around 80 amps on A.M., and over 110 amps on SSB, 45 pep drive on both A.M. and SSB. It's been run this way for over a year and never puts off much heat, even when I get really long winded.

    Togo today....

That's awesome! It doesn't take big power to make QSO's if propagation is good.

    Anytone quad 6

I have been running my quad 6 @ 90 PEP for 4 months now without issues. When shooting skip, the TX/RX cycle is around 50%, with the fan running, the heat sink barely gets warm even after 30+ minutes. When stock, before the tune up, vishay520's, and fan this radio would get to hot to touch...

    Power Levels

The power listed on ham radios is PEP, for example the IC7300 will do 100+ watts SSB, 100 digital & FM, and finally 25 watts carrier (deadkey) AM then modulate to 100 PEP.

    Re-claim 16 LSB contest Dec 24-31, 2022

I called several times at 12 watts pep, never tried with everything turned up on 16lsb. Now that the contest is over I'll try periodically with an extra 20+db.
