That will have to remember! I know he said he could do some amp work for me, & seeing the quality of his work I will not hesitate to send him anything.
Most definitely!!! I never expected to get the compliments that I have on the way my radio sounds, especially from some of the guys I have chatted with on the air. I know what a few of them are running for equipment, & they sound so very, VERY clean. Almost like a radio announcer. These guys...
Not many locals around me. Most of the guys on cb channels are all on AM. 99% of the time I keep the Mic gain set about 3o'clock, & run barefoot. The only time I crank up the Mic gain is on AM, & I'm still barefoot. I have about a 2 watt AM dead key, just enough to consistently key the amp...
This has taken me way to long to figure out how to do. So, without further delay (hopefully), I wish to thank LooseCannon for everything he has done to my radio!
Last year I asked who should I send my radio to to get work done. I asked about snake custom radios & was quickly told to skip that...
So, the noise is a high whine while the engine is running, & only when the engine is running? Not a clicking/ buzzing??
I wonder if it is the alternator, have you pulled the belt & started the truck to see if the noise is still there? I drive something similar, & have no issues myself... had a...
I don't even have an oscilloscope, & I'm enjoying these. Thank you for sharing them. He is very informative and does things in a way that you can't help but learn about what he is teaching.
My buddy tried wd40, some guy he was talking to said he did that to all his & they were perfect for the next year, lasted my buddy 3 months.. He just did the mineral oil the other day & now the only bad thing I get to hear from him is his talk back feeding back.
He did remove the rubber washer...
A power mic is a good thing for those. It just seems to help the transmitted audio... just beware that some of the new power mics have crappy switches that either need to be lubed, or replaced. Otherwise it makes a heck of a noise/ has trouble keying when you key up.
Glad to hear that you are...
When talkback is done correctly, the ONLY person who knows it is on is the operator using it. When done incorrectly, every body knows it is being used. A buddy of mine uses it, & I know it because he will be talking to me & then godawful feedback. Then he comes back & says that he moved the Mic...
Go with the 980/203 combo. I have heard many 980s on ssb & they sound really good.
You know that if you get that 520, you are only gonna be happy with it for a week. Then you're gonna want to pick up a ssb rig...
From what I have heard from more than a few different local ops MMM does a lot of broadcast radio work for more than a few different stations locally. I think he does set up, repair work, & the like.
Take this as 2nd/ 3rd hand knowledge as I have never met the man in person.
Honestly, I have never met him in person. I have chatted with him a few time when I was up near him & he was running around in his mobile.
I have seen a video off him & BBI chatting.
I believe this video was shot in MMM's station.
Currently sandbagging on the Superbowl. Was listening to motor mouth maul dxing with someone going by black judge, I just don't know where. 147 in Jamaica just keyed up & started chatting with motor mouth maul. Kinda interesting to listen to some of those guys. Some of them sound so darn good...
