I have a FT-60R and it works VERY well for me, never had the programing software as I prefer to manual program to learn the radio, that way if I am out and need a different freq. for some reason I don't need a computer to do so.
Turns out it is a Cushcraft A148-20T, gama matched with 2 feed lines. Right now it is just 2 piles on the basement floor so not much for a picture, will see what I can do when I get it together.
About a year ago at an auction of a silent key I bought wrapped in a plastic bag an labeled 2 Meter 10 Element. When I opened it up today I found a lot more pieces than I thought should be:blink: 2 driven elements + 18 rods for reflectors and directors. Turns out it has 10 elements for vertical...
Good job, just hope you don't have too much antenna above the vent pipe. With the stresses you could put on the pipe it could break above or below the roof. As far as Radio Shack "you have questions, we have dumb looks"
Yes the HT (FT-60R) transmits on 70cm but receives on 2m (local repeater output) cross band operation but not repeat, Radio on base IC-2720 receives on 70cm and cross band transmits on 2m. So with HT I transmit on 70cm to IC-2720 which transmits on 2m (repeater input), when I go to receive on HT...
I am id-ing on 70cm with the Ht and on 2m with my cross bander so that covers every where my transmission can be heard. With the tone squelch setup on the cross bander (unless someone can guess what it is) the base only transmits on 2m and NOT 70cm. I also have the 70cm receiver setup with a...
You could do as I have worked out. Cross band radio receives on 70cm band and then transmits on repeater up link with a tone squelch different than repeater tone, HT receives on repeater output and transmits on 70cm band.
That way the base radio does not cross band repeat back to the 70cm side...
A friend is doing some cleaning out of his shack so my project bench has taken on some weight.
First item is a Heathkit HW 22 with both the shack and mobile power supplies. Don't have a variac (yet) so I am running it thru a light bulb to bring it up slow, started with a 40W for 12 Hrs. and...
