Hi,
A friend of mine has a Superstar 360 and he wants to buy a Galaxy FC-390 frequency counter that plugs into the back of the Superstar via a freq. jack. My question is does this frequency counter plugged into the jack on the back of the radio work on receive and transmit? Will it work on...
Echolink is awesome! Just think of it this way, Your computer is the transciever and you are using someone else's antenna at the location of your choosing. There are repeaters worldwide that you can access at the drop of a hat. Imagine accessing an antenna in Austraila and catching skip via...
C W Morse,
I don't make regular practice of going below into the 26 range, What I posted was just some knowledge of things I have experienced. I am aware of those frequencies being used for what you had listed. Personally I have never heard any communications of the sort, But those...
Well, 26.200-26.500 is pretty heavy at times also. USB is usually international DX and LSB is mostly USA. If you shift up or down 5-10kc's on those frequencies you will hear even more on the SSB modes. Hope this helps :)
I completely agree! Heil elements are not good at all if they are not matched with an amplified microphone. I have a Heil element on a D-104 desk microphone and it is awesome. Try using an amplified hand microphone, I think an Astatic would be best.
Hi,
Does anyone know where I can get a user manual for a Sonar Model G? I am in the process of getting it on the air, But there are some things on the radio that I need to read up on. I really need it. I am also looking for Channel 13 crystals. I need a few sets of 13 at least. A guy here...
I asked him the same thing if he wanted to do AM CB, But he said that wasn't all that important. He was more interested in being able to transmit AM on it. I don't think he has the instruction book for it, But he ran into that person on ebaY while looking for extra parts and pieces for the...
I have a friend here in town who has a Siltronix 1011D and he wants to know if it can be converted to transmit on the AM mode instead of just receive. This guy on ebaY claims he has done it and does so at 60 watts , But we find it hard to believe...
Yeah, the other Comstat models are not anywhere near the right wiring. We already went that route. It has been a never ending battle finding the right wiring for that exact model.
Thanks,
Hi,
A friend of mine has a Lafayette Comstat 23 Mark V tube type rig that he is trying to wire the AC plug for. Does anyone know what the AC plug wiring diagram is for this radio? We have been looking for a schematic online for this exact radio, But we have not been able to find one. The...
Yup, Positive...The tubes have all been tested and are good. The plan is to replace all the old wax-paper and electrolytic parts. We already started to make a list of components that we need to buy to continue the longevity of the radio. We will try the alignment first as you suggested. We do...
GOOD NEWS! The Johnson is up and running, It was blowing fuses because the 12BW4 solid state replacement plug that goes into the socket of the radio was shorting out from the inside of the plug, Don't ask me how. I got the actual 12BW4 rectifier tube in today and put it in the radio and she...
Yup,
Work in progress is what I call it. There is a guy here in town that has a pretty good knowledge base of tube equipment. He is not an expert, But he seems to know quite a bit and has helped me so far. He also suggested that we take out the rectifier to see if the fuse blows, The fuse...
Actually I put in the exact same fuses that were originally in the fused plug(two 2amp fuses 250 volt). I cant say for sure about the 250 volt part, But according to the schematic it is supposed to have two 2amp fuses(One on each side of the fused plug). Here is the link to the Yahoo Group...
:( I need help to get my Johnson "Whiteface" running again. Here is my problem, It worked awesome for almost a day and then out of the blue it blew a fuse in the power cord. A friend of mine who is pretty good with electronics found out the problem is the rectifier 12bw4 solid state tube...
I have a question, I was looking inside my Cobra 21X 23 Channel radio and it looks like it has dual finals. Here is the scoop, On the rear left of the radio attached to an aluminum plate is two NEC C1096/L264C transistors. The transistors were covered with white heatsink compound and I had to...
Very cool!
I want one of those SM-5 "S" Meter's on page 5. It would be a great replacement for the broken meter on my Courier 23 by e.c.i......... Anyone got one?
Very cool, Hopefully you still have the radio.
Speaking of the date, Does anyone know how to tell exactly what year the Johnson is made? is there a date code on the chassis somewhere?
Great, I'll take them! How much do I owe you and how can I send you the money? Paypal? Let me know. Thanks, Your the greatest!
If you have another set of RX/TX channel 13 besides the one for me, A friend of mine is looking for that crystal set to match his Johnson also.
Thanks again,
