I have two Astatic Road Devil's, One red and one black. I think they sound awesome, I get nothing but compliments on the audio from my Cobra 148GTL and I talk on it frequently with the top off of my Jeep Wrangler. I also use the Astatic Road Devil on various radios in the house and I also get...
Does this mean that my radio is a 10M rig or used in the older business bands? Is it CB like the SEL. CALL on my old Teaberry Stalker IX export?
Sounds great! Thank you so much.
Yup! Evertime! My friend has one we use on the older tube sets.
I enjoyed talking some good DX to Georgia...
I would like Channel 1,9,13,19 and 23 I need both the transmit and the receive crystals. Please let me know if you have those crystals that fit the Johnson. How much? I have no clue what the crystals are worth. What exactly is the purpose of the Tone-Alert? is it for business? What exactly does...
Hi,
I just recently got this on ebaY:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOIBSAA:US:11&Item=5837663605
and I was wondering if any of you could give me some information or history on this radio. Is it a Johnson "Whiteface"? What years were these made? Is the...
IMO those mods are hack mods no matter who does them. I have had two different radios that I bought which had them installed. Those mods do nothing but reak havoc inside a radio. If you want "BIG POWA" or "MODGE" buy a radio that is capable of doing such. I would be willing to bet a radio with a...
This is just about the best source of information out there. You will need to join, But they have so much stuff. Everything you need and more is in the files section.

I just happened to run into this! I don't know if it would be worth it to buy from Amazon just to have it shipped out to a tech to have the work...
I am seriously looking into buying a Cobra 200GTL and since it is such a new radio I am wondering who is the best person to buy one from that can debug it and modify it for super clean loud modulation on all modes. I don't want anyone that hacks CB's, I want a good all around tech that is...
There is no problem in that department on my Cobra 2000GTL. It is actually very good. Like I said earlier, My receive is dead quiet with no hint what so ever of those shortwave signals unless the pre-amp on the Texas Star 250 HDV is turned on.
I had switched the coax switch to use my HR-2510 to see if I could hear these shortwave stations and I could not, It seemed after switching to different radios that it would only happen on my Cobra 2000GTL. I will say it was fun SWLing and chasing Shortwave DX on my CB.
Thanks,
I had some weird stuff happening on my Cobra 2000GTL tonight at my base station. I heard St. Joseph radio from Orange California transmitting on 13615khz on channel 40 full scale. The signal would drift between channel 38 and 40. I discovered different shortwave skip signals all day on my CB all...
If anyone decides to try the Kobitone ceramic element, Please let me know how it stands up to the competition. Hopefully they will make these Kobitone elements for a long time to come.
 A woman here in town went to bed at 12:15am and accidently hit the lock button on her microphone. It has been almost 9 hours straight that the Johnson mobile 40 channel SSB radio has been dead keying. How long should it hold out before it lets go? I have seen people's radios dead key for...
I figured this would be the best place to post my side by side comparison of the $3.52 Kobitone microphone element(Part#25LM022). This microphone element is a HI-Z crystal cartridge. There is a ceramic cartridge version that I have not tried (Part#25LM021). The catalog page is located here...
Yeah, there is nothing wrong with the Astatic base. I tried four different Astatic bases on 4 different radios and still I got that hum. If I plug in the original Astatic heads into those bases there is no hum at all, That is why I am steering toward the cord being to long. I do not understand...
Well, It is working. I wired it a different way though, What I did was to take an XLR connector and modify it to plug directly into the top of an astatic amplified stand. I do have one problem though, Any ideas on how to fix it would be greatly appreciated. When I key up the microphone transmits...
I know this is an older post, But I had not seen it before. I have two different versions of the Teaberry Stalker IX. The difference in the boards may be related to whether they are an export version or not. I have an export version that has FM and a "SEL. CALL" jack on the back. The export...
