I plan to see how much better the Sirio is...got one ordered to replace a working roof-mounted Wilson 5000. Curiosity killed the cat, I've read the same threads you have...just had to see for myself.
I've often wondered if the reported improvement is from the placement of the load? While they...
I have a roof-mounted Wilson 5000 on my crew cab Silverado, its essentially in the middle of the roof...flat 1:1 SWR across 40 channels. I've ran magnetics on a lot of trucks, as close to the middle of the roof always seems to be the best location, regardless of cab configuration.
If you roof...
Well, I just bought a Sirio "P-5000" from HY Electronics...hopefully I bought the right one. I've been curious about these for several years now, with everyone stating how much better than a Wilson they are, which is pretty much the benchmark. Decided after reading another thread on the Sirio...
The smaller the gauge number, the bigger the wire is physically. For a long run with a 667 at the end, I'd personally run #4.

On straight AM they are a waste of time...but SSB is another story. I doubt it helps the amplifier, but it'll make the charging system a little happier.
Again, your first mistake was buying a radio from them...
Your second mistake was having the work done to it by them.
Have a nice day...

Exactly...they can tell if someone tweaked a radio and if that tweak caused a problem...and that two year warranty is likely through the seller, not the manufacturer.

They broke the seals, therefore the factory warranty is potentially void. It doesn't matter that you bought it new, the modified it.

Yeah, I only mentioned DTB because he does the work to my radios...any of the shops that are known to be decent would likely be a better choice than one you know very little about.
I've heard of Don's before...even stepped foot in the door. Its been a long time ago though...and that's before I knew there was such a thing as a good tech/bad tech. I have never heard anything either way regarding them...
Personally, I'd call Galaxy back and ask them if you can send it to...
Been the there, done that...there is still quite a bit of his antenna above the roof line. I think he has multiple issues, and the tune of the radio is likely a lot of it.

Drill the roof and install a Wilson 1000 or 5000. I have a 97 OBW for a daily driver with a PC76, TS 350HDV, and a hard mounted 5000...been that way since I bought the car in 2006. I have no regrets.

A lot of the locals here had the TopGun removed or disabled in their Magnum radios as well. One guy in particular had an S9, and it sounded like garbage (he bought the radio new, so it wasn't a hacked piece); the local tech disabled the TopGun and that radio sounds great to this day.
