Just a fyi to my initial post, the problem did come back and when i took the power leads off batteries to reset and put power wires back on the problem still exists. Now this is getting irritating.
Sr955 runs off 10g to battery. Amp runs of 8g to battery. That 8g also has the anderson quick disconnect by the amp. So just picture this, when i did the radio swap, the rci 63 plugged into the amp wire not the sr955 wire and still experienced same problem. 2 separate power cords same issue...
Took radio back off, all things were normal. What ever was causing the problem had to do with the power wires, that we already know. What exactly is the question.
It definitely does sound like a rf problem however since i keep a spare antenna and coax with me, that was the first thing i tried to resolving this issue. There was no change. Who knows, i may never have this problem again. Only time will tell.
See doug thought it could be the relay too however when i took the antenna out of amp and directly plugged into radio it was still doing the same thing. Both run off different power cords which makes it even more bizarre.
There weren’t any complaints on the tx side other than turn down the echo....... also no complaints on sideband. Now when i key up my voltage does fluctuate, and how much depends on how i run the amp. It used to bounce around a lot until i moved the red wire to battery 1 and the ground to...
That’s what this hobby is all about. Having fun!
I shoot most of my skip on 38 lsb. Maybe I’ll talk to you there 1 day.

Ok, what I’m about to tell you all is bizarre. Even doug from custom cb radio was baffled. I’m running a sr955 with a 500v behind it. This has been my setup for a little over a month. About 2 weeks ago, I noticed that my rx would cut out after I finished keying the mic. What i mean by cut out is...
Its has 6 digits just like the ranger does. That last number which is a zero changes with the coarse but not the fine, which i thought it would of like the ranger does.
I have yet experience any drifting on sideband. I do love this radio and will i let this fine turner issue turn me away from this radio??.....absolutely not. As undertaker said as i get more familiar with the radio i will understand how the radio works. I appreciate the feedback night thumper.
That’s pretty freakin stupid (not with what you said)
Why on earth would you make a radio where when using the coarse adjustment knob you get the actual frequency you just changed it to but not do the same with the fine turner...... ranger did, which i probably should of gotten..........
Oh I’m in love with it. I constantly get great feedback on how it sounds. Its just this damn fine tuner, if you can use it for both rx and tx, you would think as when you’re adjusting the knob you would see how far off frequency you really are.
