The new matching wire is longer-(taller), and the long and short sides of the new wire is opposite of the original wire that came on my old P500! I took a pic, because I currently have it down, I'm running a beam now! Unfortunately the file size was too large and I'm not sure how to manage that...

I bought a p 500 a couple years ago. He had it up for several years with ends of the radials open! Each radial was packed full of some kind of insect trash.

In the past I've put a good tight layer of quality electrical tape on the joints! Used splicing tape and electrical tape on the coax connector. Make sure not to seal up the drain hole in the bottom of the vertical.

Nice find! Use high heat for a short time. I think the 14 or 16 gauge wire was what came factory. I used 12 gauge so it would handle more heat! Take your time and clean up all the connections. Use stainless. You'll be real surprised in the performance of this antenna.

OM I bought and rebuilt one of the same p 500s. I used fine steel wool and mineral spirits! Picked up a few pipe cleaning brushes from the home center, cut the handles off and use my drill to clean the female parts of all the elements! Looked like new! Used the same so connector, just cleaned it...

That too. There is still interference there though! Even if he kills it to ground!

Take a little a.m. Radio or your vehicle, tune the radio to a clear but open channel. You might hear the same interference and be able to track it down. That is if it is some kind of outside interference. Good luck
