So I won this microphone on eBay today, I have high doubts that it would work on today's radios, if it works at all. My question is, should I attempt to retrofit a newer microphone crystal in it and it's cord, or simply leave it alone for its historical value?

It's a goofy looking radio, though I know that shouldn't matter but to some it will. For the price I believe that better is out there. But ultimately time will tell.

Have him replace the Mic plug in the radio from the current5 pin, to the 4 pin used on galaxy, cobra and everything else today, that way you don't have to have a detected Mic for that radio.

Every time I sent him a radio he emails me and says it's beyond repair. I hate email, call me. And short of being crushed or burnt nothing is beyond repair. One day I may try him again, but it would be to buy a new radio, not a repair.
