I am not sure if I should dignify that comment with a response but I'm going to anyway.
All the radios I just spoke of are in the same truck, same microphone same coax same power same antenna same operator and same day.
This is the very first time I have ever heard anyone say an antenna can...
Rob I understand that. As I said before though that 3 of these radios were bought and tuned from abd by bells cb in Florida. Those would be my dx33hml (old radio) and my 959b and 99v2 (new radios) same a shop same tech 10 years apart.
I use the same mics on all my radios older rk56 or my ranger sra 198.
I am wondering if the radio is being tuned different or if there really is a difference.
I also have a 959b on the truck as well. Which is very similar in looks to the 99v2. (Can you tell I like galaxy?) That I might put in later today or tomorrow.
I do not run the linear constantly. It is mostly a terrain thing for me. In a month it might be turned on twice.
As far as the sirio...
I have two old galaxy radios, a dx 44 v and a dx 33hml. The audio on both of these radios are LOUD and clear. Never an issue.
Then when I got the new truck I decided to buy a new radio, first was a galaxy 959 b (comes factory with blue display and meter) never really got great reports though...
Well as it turns out, even with the 400 in line I was still getting reports of squeal.... bummer.
So for now I have my 33 hml in line and that radio was tuned for the 400.
Sofar so good, though I'm not happy with it aesthetically. Oh well, at least I didn't blow anything up.
Heat was becoming an issue, black truck wasn't helping much.
I have since moved the Palomar 250 to behind the driver's seat. Unfortunately I believe I may have moved it to late. Seems to develop a rather bad squeal when the box is on now. :-(
The speaker is actually factory installed by...
Not to hijack this thread, First let me say as an over the road trucker I know all to well what you are talking about, and I agree with you completely.
That said if a person comes to you and asks about ham radio just because that person has a back ground in cb doesn't make them a screw up...
You know my biggest problem with wanting to get my ham license is with some of these answers.
I have been studying for some time and I might like to attend a ham fest or other similar event. But the second I mention I enjoy talking on the cb and can't see myself ever stopping, that is the...
Thanks guys, I will look at the link tomorrow night when I have alot of down time.
I scanned the the bands I did hear a few chrips that almost had a voice but couldn't tune it in.
I have even noticed that the cb has been very quite lately with little to no skip. If understood the solar cycle...
What are some of the most common frequencys and modes for 10 meters?
I have been desperately searching and at best I might getva garbled voice but its gone before I can tune it in.
I don't want to participate in the conversation asvi don't have my license. I do hhowever want to here a few...
Thanks for the replies. I have done a bit of looking at thr rigexpert and honestly I am leaning towards it more. I like some of the features better, like the graphing for instance.
