Rci 2995 dxcf hardware upgrades questions

That is a fine radio and I own the exact same one. I don't normally agree with the mantra on here "buy a ham radio" its a once size solution that doesn't always work. I think your looking for a respone to your 2995 query which I will attempt to answer as a owner. I would keep your money those...

Ya I meant ham licenses, just omitted "ham" when I said license.

    First AM/FM FCC Approval

While I am not disagreeing with your post. My local observations are local to my state. I recently got back on CB, been a ham for 27 years. The local activity is lively here and new people are getting on weekly, there is even an informal weekly net. There also appears to Massive hordes of radios...

Gentlemen retract your light sabers! Its only radio and were getting wrapped around the axle on nonsense and off topic.

There is no "big heavy transformer" on the left side of the chassis.

    DX2950DX ept695015BR schematic

Yea that is entirely possible. I can check again tonight, before I move the radio off the work bench. As an addition I just checked and now I am seeing 13.8 VDC. That was my bad! What do you want a picture of?

Geeze, if it was a duplexed site, imagine the size of those duplexers! Maybe they ran split sites?

    DX2950DX ept695015BR schematic

Just to put a resolution to this for people searching in the future. I ended up replacing IC7 (TDA2003). I now have audio. I left the rig on the bench for 24 hours with open squelch on the volume down to a bearable limit so I didn't go nuts. I checked the insulator and re-greased it too.

    DX2950DX ept695015BR schematic

I popped the cover on my 5054, and checked Q51 and that is outputting 24 volts. I then removed IC7 from my 2950, and used my meter on diode check and every pin open, even for case to ground pin.

Ya I'm not sure I'm lacking all of the documentation I need. I have a 6m version of the radio I could pop the cover off to see if they are similar.

    DX2950DX ept695015BR schematic

It appears to be powered by Q51. I see the 13.8 going into Q51 and 24 volts coming out. Have you read the datasheet on a TDA2003? It appears to be powered from a higher voltage. It it possible this is normal?

    DX2950DX ept695015BR schematic

Well, it looks like supply voltage comes in on pin 5 TDA2003 and I'm reading 24 volts. Pin 4 is the output and I'm reading 8 volts. Going by sp5it's reply I'd say I'm operating at 1/3 of supply voltage. I suppose the next thing to do is remove it.

I have the radio mentioned in the subject. It currently has. -No receive audio, does receive an RF signal but no audio heard from the main speaker or external. - PA function does not work either. -if you turn the radio on/off you can hear a brief burst of static. Here is the interesting part...

    MD-1 on 2995DXCF

Anyone know about instructions for the MD-1 mentioned for the radio in my subject? I see there are instructions on the topgun site but not specifically for that radio. I'd like to get a clean wave form over 100%.
