Thought about the ball mount, but the antenna is mounted behind the cab on a 2'' wide steel strap. The ball would not fit on there.
I did finish the mini, hockey puck looking mount last night. I used solid 2'' Teflon stock for the insulator. It came out great.
I just got a 2'' dia. piece of solid 6061 aluminum stock today at a local scrap yard, and am heading to a friends house to machine my own on his Bridgeport mill / drill tonight. :shock:

Yes, all the stud mounts that look like they will take the weight of a heavy antenna, have the ring termanal connectors. Everything with the SO-239 on the bottom of the stud, just don't look strong.

The 10K is a good antenna for most applications, :D however in my opinion lighter construction and set screws aren't always the best for what some people are doing. :wink:
Actually, in order to simplify production, Francis started making the last generation of the CB28's 3 wire construction just like the CB50. Mine is black and when I was trimming to tune it I diceted a piece and there were 3 small wires in it.

I ran the 7' Skipshooter. Worked great. I did a "hillbilly" comparison test with a stainless 102'' whip and the Skipshooter performed just as well, and had a little less static noise at stop lights, than the whip.
The adjustable stinger at the top is nice and it tuned well on my MFJ 259B...
