THANK YOU!!! OMG short and to the point.. I need to get another patch cord to check the power after the amp. I know stock radios are at 4W and mine is a little under 2.. So thats why I asked. You wouldnt happen to know what the max power the 142 can be set to confortably would you? I was told...
Thanks for the wonderful info.. But its basically telling me no answer other then its beyond the scope of plugNPlay, and read a book on scopes. My question still remains should I bump up that deadkey..I know too much will make it sound like garbage and will possibly blow the amp, But where is...
for all those that dont already know I have a Cobra 142GTL base and a little Texas Star 250 High drive. My question is whats better a low deadkey with alot of swing, Or a higher deadkey and less swing? I only ask because my 142 is currently set with a little under 2w dead key and swings slightly...
Yea ok cool.. The one it the radio (Built in) says 3.. but thanks no one knew the answer to that.. I switch to set key up.. Then turn dial.. Usually till it gets to the set mark... then flip to swr and get the reading but for some reason dial to the max it wont go that far lol.. I'll get another...
BTW when I go to swr-set on my dosy and turn the dial it wont reach all the way to the end(Set cal).. Is there something wrong, or when it does that do you just turn it to max and measure from there?
We'll only know when tommorrow comes and all is dry.. I do think i will do that with the wire though as that is barley on there, and not making a tight connection with ground.. Also I have a 6Gauge wire running to a cold water pipe off the mast.. Is a ground good? Some say remove it and just...
Yea I know my length isnt perfect (moreso closest guess) but I did spend alot of time measuring that darn ring, because although the manual and net says its doesnt make much difference, It also says it doesnt make a difference if the swr is near same on all channels.. Meaning if its high on one...
<he goes to the cb>
My readings currently are near perfect. The needle barly moves and doesnt go past 1.5 on the dosy. I am not sure if the rain has something to do with it but wow! Again this is barefoot. Dont have another patch cord handy so this is with the 142 base barefoot... The readings...
Cool.. Says not reccomended to change the end or the wire. So I am guessing it would be indeed experimental. Thanks for the insight. Wow at the swr I am at ppl say its good, i could only imagine what it'll do at a perfect swr
I was wondering if you could do that or if it would make the swr worse. Isnt that wire what makes the power difference from the v500? I have a old connector from the back of a cb and I was going to replace the connector on the antenna with that and use copper wire LOL.. I have soldering skills...
Sorry but I have no idea what a radiator is. Not sure the coax its grey. I can check the coax tommorrow. also is the tap point the adjuster on the ring? my swr is just below 2 on the dosy. So its working, But I want to get it right when I get my tripod and fence post to raise it further :)...
Thanks for the response. I wasnt going to quit till it was sturdy and right..
Yea, Likewise I wanted that new metal to give that cheap roof some overall strength behind it, As the wood is good for strength, Doesnt make for a good enough conductor.
I will be testing the swr later today...
Better Install
Well, I got a chance to look at the mount and its basically the same thing with a thin metal at the bottom so it still would have been unstable. So I went back up to home depot bought a steel plate, and a wire wheel. Got the metal on the car down to bare where the metal goes, as...
Aww do I have too? LOL... I will probably look for a roof mount on ebay or something.. Something with support on both sides and that seals good..Even if it requires a bigger hole.. I just liked that 90 because it hides behind the headliner, and its sturdy enough for what I've got on it (FireStik II)
ahhh good point.. Wire wheel the blade and roof? I got them so when I drive them through the roof the water doesnt get through... Kinda like sealing them on the top... I might tach weld the fins of the blade and that would settle any problem.. I thought with the antenna once its grounded it uses...
Its possible with good oil bits.. The roof is weak thus why the saw blade.. And being it dead center thats the best I am going to get as far as ground plane is. The teeth of the blade help by grabbing on to the roof at the corners.. So well see.. The roof is thin, but consistant with the body of...
Home Depot
Yea, I went to home depot this morning. I got some bolts, nuts, and these washers that have a rubber washer built on them. Therefor I will put 4 of them to support that saw blade. .And several people told me a saw blade provides the best support. I think thats why the studs break...
Yea I know, Thought of that.. but for coverage sake, I went dead center :).. Going to drill a 2 hols with bolts and nuts through roof and saw blade, just dont want it to leak lol
PS: I wouldnt call it a support beam.. It holds the dome light and I got the wood under it and its thin and twist...
