    Picked up a..

I'm not a tech and have pretty limited knowledge as far as repairs go. If you send it out I have two recommendations. Bells CB or DTB Radio.

I've been there too. Sorry for your misfortune. Was the guy you bought it from knowledgeable about radios? When he "tested" it, he did know enough to use a tuned antenna or had a dummy load? Because my first thought is blown driver or final.

    SSB and exports

That is what I mean. That guy with the Galaxy must have had a real good tune on his radio. His radio sounded real good. Conditions have been pretty good the last few days and I've heard a lot of traffic. And those two radios really stood out amongst the rest I'd been hearing. I was really...

HY is out of stock anyway. So if you were buying new and didn't want to wait, you saved $35 on the radio. You got a pretty good deal on the amp.

    SSB and exports

I just couldn't believe it when they said what they were talking on. It wasn't what I expected to hear. I always hear people say that "they sound ok but not great." I just expected that all the guys running the radios that sound like someone talking into a metal culvert, were exports. I...

    SSB and exports

I have always been led to believe that most export type radios were poor performers on 27MHz SSB (with a few exceptions like the RCI 2290, etc.) I listen more than I talk but I heard a couple guys this weekend that sounded phenomenal on 38LSB. One guy was on a Stryker 955. I don't quite...

Brand new Galaxy 959 $134.99 refurb $124.99 H&Y Electronics That is the cheapest I found. Most shops are selling them $165-$189 RM Italy KL203P I've seen pretty consistently around $69.95

    Ante4nna Farm?

I ordered some coax from them and had no problems.

    WTB Cobra 138XLR & 146GTL

I have found and purchased both of these radios. 138XLR working and un-modified for $42.95 shipped. That is a steal. I see good working radios sell for $100 or more. 146 GTL is an unfortunate thing. I inquired to make sure that the radio wasn't keyed without an antenna. I didn't want...

Just when I think all is well...SSB amp prob

Not dodging. It is a TNT 600HD 4X2879 class B. They do build them with a lot of padding for high swinging radios. My radio still swings up a bit at low power, but not as much as full. I am seeing about 60W peak on AM and 5W dead key. That gives me a pretty good 1:4 ratio out of the amp and...

Just when I think all is well...SSB amp prob

The problem with that is when the radio is at full power on SSB, the amp output peaks are about way too high. Even at half throttle I am seeing 750W. That is way to much output for those transistors to run cleanly or safely. Anything over 500W is too much. I am trying to keep things clean...

Just when I think all is well...SSB amp prob

I am really sighing with some of the replies here. No, it isn't a class C crap box. The problem acutally goes away if I turn up the power. The problem is that when I turn up the power to a point that the amp transmits, it is way over driven. I don't want to be over driven. SO as I said...

Just when I think all is well...SSB amp prob

Don't pretend to know what I am trying to do. Seriously, the arrogance some people have is astounding. Some of you need to step down from your soap boxes. There is a variable power for a reason. No one said I was using full power of the two 2290s. On AM I have my power into my amp at 5...

Just when I think all is well...SSB amp prob

I have it turned down all the way. I think I have to just run the radio barefoot on SSB.

Just when I think all is well...SSB amp prob

I appreciate the reply. I know that SSB has no carrier signal, which is what causes the chatter in the amp when I turn off the SSB delay. I can't run my RF power all the way up with a 150W radio into a 4 transistor amp. I know I am going to get someone tell me not to run a dual final into my...

    This is weird

I took a drive last week, to go to camp. I was about 30 miles out of town, in the woods. My Galaxy radio (ch 26) was no longer interfering with the 155.310 scanner/radio. Even with my amp on, I didn't get as much as a flutter on the S-meter. On my way back, I got a few miles from town and...

Just when I think all is well...SSB amp prob

SSB problems with amplifier. On AM things are great. Audio is on channel and clean. I am running the amp to the transistor spec, not the amplifier's manufacture's spec. If I shut off the amp and flip the radio mode selector to LSB. At full power and mic gain at 1/4 my Galaxy 95t2 shows...

    customcbradios.com?

My only dealing with him was attempting to purchase a Galaxy 95t2. This was a couple years ago. He and several other sites still had the 95t2 listed even though they were already out of production. Every time I would place an order on a site I'd get a notification there were no more in stock...
