    fire stick ??

I'll wager that many of the different manufacturer fiberglass whips of the equal length will be fairly comparable with each other. Maybe not in all cases, but most. I took some old Archer flexible fiberglass whips down and replaced them with a new set of Everhardt TSM antennas. After many...

I agree with the last statement. Use the 5' antenna.

    why do people....

Highly recommended is all relative to who is doing the recommending. Bad shops that are still in business are obviously making some people happy or they would go under. The way to find out is to ask what they will be or have done, specifically, to the radio. Ask what kind of equipment they...

    Messenger 400

I second that. Leave the amp and get one that can take the input.

My cell phone makes me wish there were more radios

I am just purchasing my service plans straight from Straight Talk. I will cut out the middle man (Walmart). I have made several inquiries, and polite ones, to their customer service. I requested they have their finance dept. call my number, that is on record in my Walmart account, to verify...

My cell phone makes me wish there were more radios

I didn't realize my 30 day straight talk service plan is up. The closest Walmart is 30 minutes away so I get online and sign into my account. I use my pre-registered and verified card to purchase another 30 plan. I wait for me e-delivery to come in my email inbox. It doesn't show up. 6...

Repairs on 2 of my radios are done

Still psyched about getting them though. I know that the watt readings will never be that high in my mobile installs. But even if I see 75% of that in real world operation, I am looking pretty good. I wish I had an active peak meter. I have no idea of how far off my Dosy meter is reading...

Repairs on 2 of my radios are done

Just paid my tab down to Bells CB and my radios are on their way back home. My Galaxy 95t2 is repaired and anxiously awaited. 50W swinging 200W and 175W PEP on SSB. But I also can't wait to see my first radio up and running again. My old Uniden 76 XLW, that got me into this hobby, is...

What size coax for base station

If it were me, I'd probably get some LMR 240 for the hundred foot run. Times Microwave also has a low loss RG-58 (LMR 200) that is a good, less expensive alternative. It can be purchased for $.49/foot, 1.7 db loss/100 feet @ 30 MHz, and about 1 KW power handling.

I was going to send a radio to Mountain View a few years ago but they were swamped. They referred me to DTB and I used him for many tunes and repairs. His radios sound very clean. After watching several "tune up reports" from Bells, I wanted to give him a try. He did an awesome job on my...

I have never had them tune a radio for me so I can't say. As I said; as a rule, shops that remove limiters as a standard procedure, aren't shops I use. Just my own personal preference. He may do a great job. I use Bells CB and DTB radio.

    antron 99 RG8U SWR

There can be issues with the radio too. People say that SWR doesn't change as power increases but that is only if everything is working properly. SWR increasing as power increases can happen when there is a problem or problems. One thing that can cause this is bad coax. A problem that may...

I am pretty sure they remove audio limiters. I don't know what you want out of a tune. Some people desire this. It is an automatic no go for me.

Finally got my 102" back up

I had my 102" on the roof of my 2500HD. After banging everything in town 500 times, it had to come down. I used the roof mounted ball mount for my 1/4 wave 2 meter antenna. I put my Wilson 1000 back on as a temp until I could get another ball mount to remount the 102" lower. I purchased some...

    LMR-200

I have some LMR 400UF, but I am saving it for when I get my 50' tower up. It will feed my 2 Meter 5/8 ground plane. The LMR 200 worked very well for my mobile install. I am running a TNT 600HD with AM peaks about 400W and 550W on SSB. So I am well within the power handling. And with about...

    Loud Audio

Look, I have a lot of respect for you. I have also learned a lot since becoming a member of this forum, some of which from you. I find many of your posts very informative and well thought out. There are a lot of bull shitters and people that think they know much more than they really do. But...

ebay responsible for high and low prices

Low ballers do suck. It is offensive when people offer ridiculously low prices on things, and actually get angry when you don't sell it to them. Like it isn't worth the money just because they don't want to pay that much. I don't like to haggle. It is uncomfortable for me. There is...

    Loud Audio

I really don't need a chill pill because I am not excited. Quite the opposite, actually. My reasons for my screen name are my own. It doesn't concern you, and I don't need to explain it. But that is neither here nor there. I don't wish to continue this conversation, as I stated in my last...
