I have the same radio. I get "loud and clear" responses with it. I don't care much for the receive on mine. Might just be me but it seems people a few miles back get staticy. BBB did you turn down your carrier to run a 2X4?
MMM's 96 ft long, 70 ft up in the air antenna, is PROOF that it's not how much power you're running....it's how good (or bad) of an antenna you are running.
You could probably run 4 watts into MMM's antenna and STILL talk at least half way across the country, if not more.
Perhaps one day...
Better check again. There's other frequencies on ham with lids on them. 3.843, 14.275 and sometimes 7.200, come to mind.
The good thing about ham is the excessive bandwidth. Thus when/if you hear a lid, spin the dial past them. "Don't cry, QSY" as we call it. Unfortunately the same cant be said...
World Radio Laboratories amplifier.
Model WRL 6706. This is a base station amp. Runs on 120 VAC house current.
Two tube style amp. They're RCA tubes but I can't tell which ones. Please see the pics.
On my Birdmeter, and into a dummy load, using a 3.5 watt carrier, 14 watt modulating radio, I...
But if you're on water, or maybe in flat land Kansas, such claims could hold true. Marketing hype doesn't want you to know of the mass amounts of signal absorbing obstacles one faces in radio land.
Good thing most of us know this, and can laugh at such claims. OTOH sad for those who don't.
Yes I have a Yeticom Optima III. And I have yet to find a way to install in my mobile due to no room. Yet I cant bring myself to sell it....
One thing I noticed, is SSB seems to sound much lower of audio than AM.
Lafayette HB-444 CB radio. Can be used as base or mobile. Yes it runs off of 12 VDC as well as 120 VAC, depending on how the connector is wired. This is a 23 channel tube type set from 1965-1969 era.
I do not know if it works. I do not have a power cord to test it. I do not have a microphone...

I received one of these little radios for Christmas. So far I have received reports of "it's clear".
I've contemplated in replacing the stock mic with an Astatic 575-M6 I have. I know I would have to hard wire it into the radio, and then add the channel change buttons.
