lol The VE's all knew me as a CB operator when I took and passed the Tech exam. They told me that little thing about dx when you're an amateur operator. On cb I'm shooting skip, anything on the frequencies in the country is a local call, and dx is across the pond in either direction. 3's

I was about to disconnect the peep but I did the next best thing. I pulled the trigger on a pristine Varment XL 1000 with good glass and an entire set of new glass' in boxes. I'll still have a little short duration peep (not beep) but it will be a nationwide peep !!!

this peep is the factory short peep. Nothings modded. From the responses I think I'll put something else inline when I want to do SSB. I agree that some roger beeps are annoying such as the longer duration types and K's, farts, doorslams etc. I want to keep this radio stock so clipping the wire...

to use my vintage Cobra 148GTL-DX on SSB ? It has a roger peep and operators seem to ignore it/me. I change over to my 2950 where I can turn the beep off and get responded to each and every time. Is there an unwritten law ? 3's

^...what he said... In my car I use a 1mfd cap on my stereo system because it keeps voltage and current consistent especially when the bass drum hits, otherwise it would dim the headlights when the bass drum hits. But not on my CB system.
