    Sv3ora external noise blanker

Yeah. Yuck ikr. I just made bnc to uhf jumpers. Tried just straight in uhf to box adapters but the coax seemed like it was going to put it in a bind.

    Sv3ora external noise blanker

Look up sv3ora noise blanker on YouTube. And yea it works great. Very great. Very very great. line noise -gone. Has a preselector that lets it work all hf bands.

broke my kenwood 120s radio no rx now

I’m going to check that meter today. I was fiddling around with a ground jumper that was hooked to the radio and was trying to ground to the power supply for some noise reduction and hit the wrong damn terminal and that’s how the spike occurred.

broke my kenwood 120s radio no rx now

heres what happened. i had the kenwood all hooked up and it was working fine. i was jacking around with my power supply setup and believe i sent a 120v spike to the dc side of the multitap bus i use. it didnt damage anything else on the power supply however the kenwood has lost most of its...

    Best transciever I’ve got

This is the level of power line noise that the poco just can’t seem to find. Gosh they just have never heard of line noise before.

    Best transciever I’ve got

Today is a good example. I was cruising around 3.9 somewhere, you know how these things track, and I was enjoying these fellers rag chew. For fun I kicked off the nb and the noise floor came way up but still those guys were in there. Pulled the rf gain back 1/4 and it was good enough even...

    Best transciever I’ve got

It amazes me that out of 5 hf radios, the best sounding radio I own is in my atlas 210. It is more sensitive and quieter that any others. The noise blanker actually works. Just the noise floor is much quieter than the others just idling. Blows me away considering the lack of crap packed in the...

A full wave open stub coaxial loop 80m

I’m thinking about trying to adjust the length of the antenna element using rg8x vs 58 since I’ve got a bunch of 8x. I’ll start with 144mhz. Should just need to make it 14% longer than the usual. Edit Oh thinking about it, how much difference would 25 ohms make in the grand scheme? Without...

A full wave open stub coaxial loop 80m

I believe it’d change your impedance for one. Then you’d be looking at having to match it. Which would defeat the matchless design. Then you’d have to consider the power handling capability bet even the coax. I’m not even sure exactly what you could push through the other one.

A full wave open stub coaxial loop 80m

its a read for sure. i hate patent papers. too much repetitive nonsense. i just hung a delta 80m and im interested in this matchless design as it should drop a fair amount of loss off of it. im not sure if youd get much harmonic work out of it though so it might be just a 80/40m but thats fine...

    Triangle horz delta loop

I’d love a circle. Logistically it’s not an option right now. My house has a metal roof and I’m trying to keep from crossing it. That’s why I went with the triangle. Height is where I’m looking now.

    Triangle horz delta loop

Sad to say that while the triangle did work well the gains or losses compared to my ocfd were hit or miss. Maybe if I was up higher or had it orientated a little different. I will say that you should try it just to see. Edit. I forgot to mention it is much quieter than the ofcd. I’ll raise...

    Triangle horz delta loop

For fun and out of sheer boredom I strung up about 280 ft of wire in a triangle suspended about 20’ off the ground and threw a 4:1 balun at the north point for a feed. Trimmed it close enough and I’ll try it out tonight. If I like it I might consider doing a bigger loop for 160 I dunno

    Ofcd vs fan dipole. Opinions?

I’ve been running a 80-10 off center fed dipole with the feed point at 45’ for a few years. I’ve been thinking of switching to a fan dipole. The ocfd is fine just wondering if a fan would be better. Any opinions on a difference between the two? Is one better than the other?
