    I dont understand

It's not so much a ham versus CB thing, everyone has different reasons to be in this hobby and we all enjoy different things. It's just that constantly being told "you do not prefer the same equipment that I do therefore you are wrong" gets old after a while.

    I dont understand

With the exception of a very few individuals I think most of us already understand that, that's why a used HF rig usually costs upwards of $400. It just cracks me up how often people use the "same money" argument when comparing used lower end HF gear to new high power exports. If going used you...

    I dont understand

On the subject of export radios. You see a lot of people saying exports ain't worth it because you could get a good used HF rig for the same money, don't these people know that with a little patience it's not hard to pick up a good unmolested used 2950dx for somewhere in the $100-$150 range?

FCC should just open up 11meters as a Citizens experimental band.

Put a Dave Made behind your 10 meter rig and you could make your own conditions just like the guys on 27.025 MHz do.(y)

Power supply and battery connected together?

Go as big as you can afford.

Tax refund dreams RCI 69FFB4 or RCI 2970N4 ?

I would go with an external amp, four 2879's inside the case of the radio seems like trouble to me.

    In search of Palomar SL41

Nice part about the 575 is the tone control, no matter what your voice sounded like you could usually find a setting that would make it sound good on the air. I know people who didn't exactly have a voice for radio and the 575 was a real problem solver for them. For me I always got good reports...

    In search of Palomar SL41

I don't generally use power mics either but if a mic has a better audio response I wouldn't hold the fact that it's a power mic against it, you can always turn the power down. In comparisons that I've heard the SL41 sounds enough like the old RK56 to make it a good alternative now that the new...

    RCI or Galaxy?

Not a ham here so the usual disclaimers apply. I used to listen in on the ham bands with a general coverage receiver quite a bit. I've heard many times where someone would be talking and getting good reports on his signal, then he mentioned that it's an RCI he's talking on and everything...

    Noise Blankers that actually Work?

That RF gain knob is quite capable when you know how to use it.

Power supply and battery connected together?

Battery chargers are usually regulated to put out a constant current as well as constant voltage, on a power supply it's usually only the voltage that's regulated. If a battery is low the current it draws could be too much for the supply to handle.

    RF Limited RFX95HD

Any thoughts on how these work at lower drive/output levels? I would be interested in something that puts out power the equivalent of a hot tune on a dual final export while loafing along to do so. I may have to grab a couple of these. It would be a long time before I could do anything with...

Radio signals from Deep space received!

Anyone ever wonder if these signals can be from an alien trying his hand/tentacle at a little MEM Earthbounce communications?

Should I say you bet I can do that?

The above pretty much sums up the problem as I understand it. Not a tech and never claimed to be so I can't address the more technical discussion here, but I can share a bit of "CB wisdom" that was handed down to me a long time ago. From what I was told if done right you can get boatloads of...

    The Ultimate Newbie !!!!!

It's the radio frequency that is the most important part. We need to know what stations are transmitting in the area you want to listen to and what frequencies they are transmitting on, then an appropriate radio can be recommended. Also keep in mind that not all radio frequencies are able to...

    The Ultimate Newbie !!!!!

Do you know what frequencies the stations you want to receive are transmitting on? Everyone seems to have assumed that you want to receive shortwave stations but I didn't see you actually say that, just want to make sure there are no mistakes regarding just what kind of stations you're trying...

    Mobile antenna

I vaguely remember guys experimenting with dual antennas set 8-16" apart mounted on a bar that was fed as part of the antenna, the goal was to increase bandwidth in the same way that a cage dipole would. Not sure how that ever worked out though. Anyone else remember this?

    LOOKING FOR A GOOD MIC.

Another non echo mic to keep an eye out for is the Turner +2, back in the day there were some real nice sounding AM stations running them around here. For echo I would consider a board installed in the radio, I don't know if the quality is any better/different but I do believe there is an...
