    Base Ultimax Dxtreme

Anything is possible if you're willing to put time and money into fabricating a solid bracket capable of handling the wind load and vibration.

I don't do store deliveries. However I go from bakeries and DC's to DC's or depots. It's mostly drop and hook.

    MOBILE INSTALL: 579 Peterbilt

Spacing was determined by keeping 9' between the elements and had nothing to do with proximity to the body. If the body has any metal in it you're probably barking up the wrong tree. It worked great on a peterbilt 387 which is all plastic body. The peterbilt 387 had a stack on the passenger...

    MOBILE INSTALL: 579 Peterbilt

That would be a great solution if you could make it work.

    MOBILE INSTALL: 579 Peterbilt

I guess I was mistaken about the body being the same as the kenworth. If you got a spot mirror on the passenger door I think that's probably the easiest and cheapest antenna mounting location. I would never mount it behind the cab under any circumstances unless you want to bring it outside the...

I have no intentions of making the same mistake that Reginald Denny made. No stopping for me.

    Flamethrower Galaxy 959

I assume your truck is virtually identical to this one and this is the best installation I've seen yet. If it was me I would just purchase one of those cheap oil filled antennas and stick a 3' or 4' shaft underneath it.

Hauling cake and bread to NYC. No more coast to coast reefer work for me. I got a local gig that pays better and I get to sleep in my own bed every night.

    Mobile antenna shafts

On the roof of a car it should make minimal difference and hanging off the side of a tractor trailer there could be a drastic difference but not for the reasons you might think. You can add 24" of shaft and only might need to subtract a quarter inch of stinger.

    Palomar Electronics Max-Mod. Spoiler alert!

I think the main point is that if it fails it will always result in an open circuit unlike others which usually result in a short circuit sending battery voltage directly to the finals causing them to detonate. There's much to be said for preventing catastrophic failure from ever occurring to...

    Mobile Mobile antenna choice

Move the stinger of each antenna out 1/2 inch, and whichever antenna has the worst match at that point will be the more efficient antenna once you drop the stinger back to where it was, assuming both were resonant to begin with. My money will be on the Skipshooter.

    Mobile Mobile antenna choice

If you had an antenna analyzer you could measure the bandwidth of each. Narrower bandwidth = higher Q I'm sure all those factors come into play. Resonance and bandwidth are key factors though. Narrower bandwidth antennas pick up less non resonant signals and less noise.

    Coaxial Cable Length

That's useless for a multi-band situation. He'd be best off using the shortest cable to read from point A to point B. Those are like unicorns in a Mobile Installation, although it can be faked with a tuner.
