Going off the information mentioned above. Why cant you just remove the clarifier circuit from the mic and add it to the new 20k knob? The circuit is already built and ran through the jack into the mic. The main purpose of this mod is to change it to a 4 pin mic jack with cobra pinning.
Thanks guys for the help.
I will start gathering the parys for the conversion.
One more question, this radio will likely never be used on ssb. Can an adapter be made that only controls the tx and rx funcrions and not worry about the clarifier?
Picked up a Robyn an-505d today. Great radio but the stock mix is lacking a little. I'm wanting to wire either a rk56 or a asatic mic to it. The problem is it has the clarifier in the mic itself. Does anyone know the wiring for this radio, and can it be modded for another mic to work on it.
Ok so ive come to an issue I cant figure out. Got a new style board uniden pro 510xl, dead key is fine, tx is fine. It has no recieve. The ic chip gets hot to the touch and it seems as though you can hear static from it. Changed it to a new one and same thing. Any ideas on this folks?
So getting more into repairing cb radios. Got a scope and am now looking into a decent cheap signal generator to learn on. Been looking at something similar to the fy6800 or even the fg100. Will they work to get alignments close enough to be operational?
I’ve got another 858 chip I can try. I’ll check out the ribbon and the connector as well. Any idea as to why r113 is getting so hot? I know some heat is to be expected but this seems excessive to me. 13.8 volts measured across the joints.
Ok. So I’ve been trying to save this radio for a couple months now. It belongs to a good friend of mine so I’d like to finish it for him. It came to me with no rx, tx, or pa. After opening the case it was clear to see it had been hacked on for a channel mod, but never finished. I removed the...
is there anyone here who can take some pictures of the solder side of the board of a Washington base with the 858 chip please. Trying to demod this radio for a good friend but some wire placement has me stumped.
I just bought a cos6100m scope. Right now I do this as a hobby however I would like to get my skill level and bench setup where I can make some extra cash on the side. I have several small radios that I could use as a signal generator and I’ve looked online for instructions on how to do this...
hello all. I’m looking for some advice for a signal generator that will work with the cb band. It needs to be affordable as I am on a budget. It will be tool for learning and for personal use. Would like to keep cost as low as possible but still have a decent functioning unit. As skill and money...
Everyone thanks for your help. As it would turn out it was a broken wire in the mic. All this headache could have been avoided but I took the radio owners word that the mic was good. But on the bright side he has a newly redone channel mod and a brand new ext speaker jack.
It did not have factory talk back. I installed the resistor across the jacks. This brought full audio to the ext speaker. It’s switching from cb to pa mode but I’ll look at it again. Question if c77 is shorted, would the audio on the pa side still work as it should? It is a tantilium cap.
Yea the mic is in and it’s a good mic. So it has been covered the rx coming through the pa while in pa mode is normal. Switch it to cb mode and the rx audio stops. It is still receiving as it can be seen on the meter. The channel mod was done prior to it coming to me and the hi/lo switch now...
Pulled the jack and could see no visible issues. Installed a new jack just for good measure. Still the only way to get rx audio on the cb side is with the jumping resistor across the pa and ext jack. Stumped on this one. Fixed a few poor looking solder joints but still no audio from the ext...
