The more active devices put into the audio path raises the noise floor. The noise floor will never be less than the noisiest device in the audio signal chain.
Same applies to the overall dynamic range. Your dynamic range will never be greater than that of the device with the least amount of...
Hope this helps RidgeRunner

Hey Eric!
I may check with you about that schematic. I have one of these coming in for some work
Saturday Nov 12, 2021. Thanks for posting.
We message a few times on ebay a few years ago.
You sent me a link on web of you on your Knuckehead. I know thats a bit of a sore subject but maybe you...
Connex 4600 Turbo. All the components on the echo/reverb board I speak of are surface mount technology except this R30 and a couple of electrolytic capacitors on other side of board. See attached pic. Hope this helps.
On the newer EPT0SSB50C echo/reverb board, changing R30 (10K) +/- ohms effects DEPTH of this time based device. It took a 2.7K ohm as R30 to make effect DRY with control just turned on. This unit now behaves as it should.
I realize this is an ancient thread but it's still relevent.

ShadeTree, I don't see many Behringer comps in the audio chain for 10/11 meter. How's that working for you? Money wise those are hard to beat.
Nice radio cabinet btw!
Thanks Robb!
Rule of Thumb: If it sounds good - it is good.
I would be interested in doing an A/B comparison someday for sure.
Hey 543_Dallas did I say something you didn't like?
Hi Robb!
that was my feeble attempt at humor Robb. I don't have a Neumman Uxx, a 1073, 1176, Demeter DI, or a Cobra 19. Although I have used all extensively in recording sessions (minus the 19)
I just have those same feelings about this so called "hi-fi" shite on a CB. It's over the top.
If...
"going to boost the average modulation% but not make the radio go over %100"
......that sounds just like what a compressor does > chops off peaks and raises average level.
Adding this will likely will increase your noise floor. Make it adjustable if possible. Then use like salt.
....wait until you hear my 60's era Neumman condenser thru a Neve 1073 pre and into an UA 1176 limiter back into a customized Demeter tube DI to bring back to line level and into audio circuit of my chromed cobra 19 using direct injection. hell yea it rocks!
That hack job was performed on a Galaxy DX99V by "DOG" at JJ's Electronics in 2012 and he called it a "Super Mod". Super muck up would be what I call it
Just about everyday I see an export radio come into my shop with this hack done to it. No export is immune apparently as I have even seen Stryker radios with this hack job.
I'm looking for a picture of the RF output circuitry on a Browning Mark IVA.
The unit I have is missing one or more parts.
The pic shows area. Any one that can post a pic of this area it's much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
