Feeding a vertical with ladder line

The transformer loss has not been included in the OP's ERP, so "less loss" is not necessarily true.

Feeding a vertical with ladder line

Frankly, I don't like what the OP is doing. I would use an antenna coupler at the antenna, to maximize efficiency. I can deal with 2 dB of feedline loss other ways.

    GMRS antenna question

It depends on what coverage you are looking for. A quarter wave, has more of an umbrella type pattern, good for local coverage. Less RF at the horizon, as a gain antenna would have.

Feeding a vertical with ladder line

What is a loss that is "too great"? You are only taking into consideration the feedline loss. There will be losses in the transformer and matching network as well. The feedline loss of RG-8/U at 30 MHz of 220' is slightly over 2 dB.

    GMRS antenna question

You were looking at a low profile mobile antenna, which is a loaded quarter wave antenna in a plastic radome. I am suggesting a quarter wave ground plane, not a gain antenna. The quarter wave is a simple antenna, not much to go wrong if you weatherproof it correctly. If you want a tall gain...

    GMRS antenna question

I would suggest the sidearm below the beam approach. I would use a quarter wave ground plane, before trying to use a Tram low profile antenna.

    GMRS antenna question

First, I would not use an antenna like that, sold by that company, unless you don't mind replacing it or servicing it often. If you mount the UHF antenna on the same support as the beam, the vertical separation would be sufficient. t is not uncommon for amateurs to mount a VHF/UHF vertical...

    QRP operations

I have Yaesu FT-817, Heathkit HW-7, Magnum 1012, Mizuho MX-28S. I get the biggest kick from the Mizuho. The Heathkit sucks, so does the Magnum 1012. The 817 also generates a bit of fun, event though I despise it. It works really well, but I hate the user interface.

need parts or its for sale

That's good news. Whatever it takes, you will get a working display. Every time I worked on of of those or its variants, I was wowed by the receiver in that tiny SSB radio, it is one of a kind.

need parts or its for sale

I have the Workman parts here. Or, I'll get you a Kingbright sub part number when I get to my bench. I am working on other projects this week. You can get the Kingbright from any parts house.

    That's total BS.

need parts or its for sale

That is a common part. Common anode 2 digit display. May be a TLR321, but going from memory, that is going. Should be no problem obtaining a usable sub, based on dimensions and footprint.

    Me and the FCC

You need to first come to a conclusion as to what the interference is. How do you know it is from the house you say it is? The first step is to audio record the noise in AM mode. Second step, is to determine the frequency of the noise by measuring the time/period of the peaks. can give a clue...

    Uniden PC122XL - No Transmit

Too bad we didn't know this from the start. That radio is so tiny, by comparison to other SSB radios. It has a really good RX, so you should enjoy it.

Check the final junctions. Look for a BC short.

    Radioddity QT-60 *Pro*

I do know that they are bound by price constraints on Xiegu and some others. I was wondering the same thing on the QT-60 Pro sale + discount. I wonder if they lost $$$ on that deal. They even include shipping! Crazy cheap for a badass radio! I would bet Mad Max would have one of those in his...
