Oh so a fat boy and a carl built dont splatter?? Don't they use 2sc2879s? What are you talking about.... tube amps? Might want to go rant on a ham forum or kick rocks.
Can anyone tell me where the audio wire in and out is on a newer bearcat 980. I'm trying to install an echo board and I am struggling to find the audio in/out. Can't find any schematic or anything on this mystery radio. I know pin one is audio.... but this surface mount radio is eating my lunch...
Before I replaced the final with the salvaged 2078 final, a ceramic capacitor c40 was smoked and fell apart when I replaced it. Now the question is why did my new sweet 16 straight 8 blow up this radio and a galaxy in the same fashion?
Thank you all for all the pointers. Audio transformer was fine (rare for those to go out). I got the 2078 final on Amazon because rf parts doesn't carry 2sc2078 and got the driver 2314 at rf parts and the pre driver off a parts radio. Still no transmit. Well I use to do alot of mosfet conversion...
Yeah both d10 and d17 both checked good but still replaced them anyway. Still no transmit :(.... any ideas would be appreciated. I guess I'm just gonna start shotgunning caps. Wish me luck. THANKS
So I have a new couple month old cobra 25 ltd. I blew it up testing amps meaning the radio would pop a fuse everytime the radio was turned on. So I replaced the final, driver and pre driver transitor. The radio now turns on and the tx light changes red when mic is keyed but shows no...

I have a texas star dx 350 hdv and I replaced both transistors with a set of matching HG pills. With just the red button pressed on the amp it works great with loud audio but after I release the key on the mic, the amp will stay keyed up via meter light on amp and make a squeel noise in my...
When an Emitter and collector are shorted, the transistor cease to work as a switch. Basically, the electrons from Emitter to reach Collector by bias and hence it becomes switch. Now you have shorted, both ends of the switch its basic function as switch is defeated. Am I wrong?
Figured it out finally after wasting time with all the original bad suggestions. A simple diode test on collector and emitter on pills showed both were shorted witch was causing my drain. New HG pills and we got fire in da wire now.
