Thanks Andy,
During the 30's. 40's, and 50's this was just common knowledge. Engineers thought this through and knew marking the foil end of the capacitor was the correct thing to do. Later in the 60's something changed. Capacitor companies forgot what that little black mark meant. I have...
I have said it many times, this is a "fast food" life style we now live in.
No body wants to learn, just want the answer handed to them.
I see this at work all the time with new hires.
Since I have been doing YouTube videos you can only imagine some of the emails and comments I get. Sometimes...
man I used to hate seeing anything with the name Dentron come in.
Those things will eat a set of tubes for a snack. Seen so many that were chopped up and mono banders made out of them, and I want even get into the Amp Supply stuff.
However not to hyjack the thread but since we are talking...
You could be right.
Since the last post I went through all the power supply voltages, replaced the RF amp, FET1, driver and final. Eleminating any issues. I was even surprised that I had new old stock from years back.
More to come soon.
Hi All,
Been a while since I posted here. I picked up a trc-457 a while back and decided it was time to restore this classic back to life.
Posted this video a week ago and thought I share with the folks here on WWRF. Radio looks pretty much stock, no channel mods.
Issues I saw during the...
I would say the problem these days are not as much the radio or amplifier like it was back in the day. But the cheap Chinese products that we use these days. A local ham was running 50 watts on 20 meters and the nieghbor could hear him coming through on a toaster.
I used them for years, even when they first came out. But only for satellite communication. I later bought a 736 which is much better at tracking.
I still have two 726 units. They are not bad but are now vintage.
I agree with what others have said. Make it comfortable to you. Most used equipment with in arms reach. That is the practical approach. Now there is another approach you should consider. That is the safety approach. You do not want your equipment set up to where you could drop a probe, connector...
Looks like it is time to take the case off the scope. From that picture there may be some damage inside. When you remove the case be careful as there is lethal voltages inside.
It looks like you have channel one set to ground coupling. Since you want to look at an rf signal put it on AC. To look at voltage put it on DC.
It is hard to tell from your picture where all the controls are set to. With a dot in the middle of the screen looks like it is in X/Y mode but I...
I got into drones a while back so never really bothers with helicopters. They are interesting however. I have one boat with a K&B 7.5 outboard on it.
My son is the car and truck guy. He races at several tracks around the county. He wants me to start doing "RC" related repairs. But just no time.
During the Christmas break I shot a short video of the shop. The old video was several years old and lots of things changed. I know some of you have already seen the shop but decided to share with the rest.
Just a bunch of old junk collected over the years.
That does look nice. Like LC said any noise issues? With the room you have around that board a shielded box is doable. Thanks for sharing another one of your great creations.
