I am going to be trying this out on the 15, 20, 40 and 80 meter bands. Honestly I think this will make things look more neat than just simply slapping a couple pieces of wire on the end of my feedline from the shack
Either way I am not going to get discouraged as I have already just...
So I am assuming that the ugly balun is just a contradiction to how a balun is actually made?? Don't mind me I am still a newb at constructing wire antennas so I am just curious is this guys design truly not a balun at all? :confused1: This fella also states that this will operate between 1.8...
Well said Doc  But for some reason I have never had any luck with a no balun dipole so I gave up which was about 10 years ago lol . I guess I was not doing something right. How ever I have decided to try again but with a balun.
It would be better to run your dipole with a balun rather than just connecting your wires to the end of your cable.
Baluns are fairly easy to make and as a matter of fact here is the one I am currently working on building.

I just recently bought a Yaesu FT-101E but it did not come with the 33.02 Mhz crystal for the 11 meter band. This crystal I am looking for is one of the more modern type crystal and not the old bulky one. If you happen to have one please PM me.
Thanks and 73's

Maybe? It does not matter anyway because the RG 58 I have is all stranded center conductor. Although where I am located in Ontario, Canada offers a mixed bag at times during the winter so yea wire strength would be a definite plus for sure.

Robb the reason I am going with the traps is due to lack of space. It sucks living in the city with a small yard and no tower to work with. Anyways this design came from a fella that had designed a multi-band trap dipole to fit in his attic so I thought that this was a great idea and would work...
I am working on constructing my very first trap dipole for working 20 meters. How ever I have seen a lot of amateurs that have shared their designs using stranded wire.
Now would using solid core wire such as the center conductor of RG 58 coax make any difference for my project?
I just...
That is cool!! I think that I am going to start doing my connectors that way instead of trying to solder through the little holes in the body of the connector.
I seem to get excellent preformance from my A99 and here is a good example....
Just today I spoke to a fella on a small Island called St.Martin in the Carribbean and that was with my RCI 2950 with only 5 watts pushing off the A99:whistle::thumbup: from Belleville, Ontario Canada.
Ok I will check them monunting screws and I will shoot you an email some time this weekend and let you know if that fixed the problem
Thanks

yep I checked all the buttons to make sure they were all in the right possition there 190
I am assuming you are talking about how much power I am seeing on a power meter? If so I really could not tell you because I do not own one at the present time.

yeah I was looking at that last night and checking all the voltages out with my multimeter and all seems to look good and I also managed to clean up the audio but have not been able to bring it up any unless I use a power mic. So I am wondering if I replace that missing VR111 and have the rig...
Hello to all and I look forward to checking out all the sections available on this site and perhaps share some of my radio knowlage on my free time.

Good day all I as well seem to be having troubles with my 2510.
I have found that there is no Tx bars on the display but however the Tx indicator does light up while transmitting and also the audio is so low almost like as if the volume on the other radio is turned right down and thats on the...
