Well it happened, my truck was broken into last night while parked at work on the night shift in a fenced lot with cameras! My truck was one of 7 cars hit. Mainly took stereo stuff from cars and change..took my 980ssb, Ts250 amp and predator 10k along with change and small stuff. We have them on camera but we where told that due to lighting and hats/hoodies they will be hard to identify. I'm now looking at radios and I still have my Wilson 1000 magnetic, I will pull the radio and lock it in my locker from now on. Thinking about the RCI 2970 n4 from Bells CB.

Good radio, sorry about your loss. Do not get the "Super Whack Pack Tune" done to it.
It is a great radio to start with and will toss some watts to the antenna.
Conversion to 11 meters only if that's where you operate. I would rather see some body spend their money on a good radio like this than a junk radio and a junk amp.
The signal coming out will be tons better if not "CB tuned."

With 400 clean watts why mess up a great radio.

Those people will get what's coming to them in the end. When I was a kid, my dad had those slide out mounts for his CBs. I don't know if they still make them anymore but it had all of the electrical connections on it and made it real easy to pop it out to secure it or swap between vehicles.

That really sucks. I hate thieves. I wonder what the market is for hot cb radios nowadays. I don't think near as much as we have invested in them that's for sure. Best of luck on what ever radio you choose. I have never had a RCI radio, so I can't help you out there.

You can still find those slide-mounts every now and then on ebay...I never was a fan of them tho, because the contacts were always messing up...PLUS, after a while you get to the point you don't take the radio out anymore, and the slide-mount makes it that much easier for the bad guys to steel the radio! They even use to make one that had a key-lock gizmo on it, which I kinda thought defeated the purpose of having one in the first place.

the guy that did the superwackpack is out of business.
Mike at Radio-Hactive always got a bad wrap for his "whack-pac", but I actually had one of his whacky-packy radios that i got lots of compliments on...It was a Superstar SS-158DX...now that I think about it...maybe Mike just told me he did the whaky-packy mod...but didn't really even open up the radio, and just charged me for it?(n)

If I remember correctly he had 2 versions the whack pack and the super whack pack. Never ordered a radio from him.

Sorry to hear it. I had my stereos stolen twice. First time I had no alarm. The second time, they cut the battery cable.
My point is, I know your pain. Hopefully the window isn't too expensive either

When I had the Icom 706 in the car I had the transceiver in the trunk and the head unit velcroed to the dash. The antenna was mounted with a quick release. When I parked I brought the head unit with me and removed the antenna placing it in the trunk.

i had a rci 2980 superwacked up sounder like shit. sold it the next day. all it would do is squeal like a pig. lesson learned
