10 meters seems to be wide open today

Yeppers! Band was open for a little while. Long enough for me to make some Pacific basin contacts to put in the contest log. Three of which will be multipliers for doubling up on a different band.

Funny you mention that. I spent the rest of my afternoon installing my MFJ 108 vertical steel whip on the center of my trucks tool box, then connected a piece of LMR-240UF cox directly up to my Magnum 257HP....made 2 contacts with that set up, one to Canada, the other to the Turks and Caicos islands.
The contest was fun. I fired up the radio Friday evening for a few hours and some more on Saturday and Sunday.
I ended up with 81 QSO's and 42 countries on 10 meters.
Also 20 countries each on 15 & 20 meters.
Added some all time new countries: Bonaire, Aland Island, Romania, Finland, Moldova, Denmark & Iceland.
All contacts were with 100 watts and a ground mounted vertical.
The bad part was I discovered my 40 & 80 meter wire antenna went bad on Friday. I have to get that fixed before the November phone sweepstakes in a couple of weeks.

I seen him spotted many times and went to get and never was strong enough to work here in AZ where I am...
I did pretty good close to 200+ contacts, Most of it on 15 meter though, spent half a day on 10 and some good ones.. Still sorting for how many countries.
