11 meter is very quiet?

Last two days no skip at all. Tonight it's a complete train wreck. I've had skip from Wyoming to Florida and New Jersey to Mexico. Arkansas is getting hammered from all directions. Basically just tons of noise, but through it all seems I can always talk with 300 in NC and talking with 21 in Fl right now like he's next door. Almost like a direct line to the south east.
My first contact this morning was Ontario Canada I'm in Tennessee

Finally got to sit down at the radio for the first time this week. Fired up the 6666 and listening while paying some bills. Heard 22 French Guiana CQ a few times and then QSYed to 380. I followed and heard him CQ again and called out to him, conditions were weak and I didn't catch his name. We talked for a few minuets and then let him return to the DX as others were calling him at that point. I looked up French Guiana, I had no idea it was on the coast above Brazil and to the east of Venezuela. I am getting a geography lesson for sure with this DX. Got another pin on the map too. I am going to need a bigger map or smaller pins, haha!

Pretty active morning around the high plains. Put the 6666 on the air and made a few qso's with a couple operators in Arizona. Not bad being it was completely unexpected.
I'm hoping to make a couple qso's this evening. Currently working at my side job, and I spend 90 percent of my time in my truck so I'll have some play time. Just fired up radio and seems conditions are not the best currently

Tried an amp out on my radio, dead key getting swr of 1 but when I talk it's hitting in 20. What would cause this? Would the 1 foot jumper from radio to amp be causing this?

11 meters died out for the afternoon, storms moving in so everything gets unplugged for now.

Will be checking back after the storms and see what comes in on the receiver.
