11 meter is very quiet?

Short contact with 321 East Cost Florida on Ch. 24 AM and Cornbread in ????
Hey Recon didn't you once tell me you had a KL-300 P foot warmer in your truck ! I was wondering how you would compare it to a KL- 203 P for success breaking thru the clutter going on now in the DX World. I was coming back from the VA hospital after getting a Echo today and couldn't really break thru the clutter of DX. I have a KL- 300 P setting idle and was wondering if the 300-P would make much difference if I took the time to hook it up. I hear a lot of talk about the KL-203 P but not much about the KL- 300 P but figure that is probably just because it's cheaper. I guess I better start comparing Specs. If this is just a start to a solar high I want to be able to Break on Thru to the other side !

The radio was set with a 2.5-watt carrier, stock mic , #8-gauge wires directly from battery to radio with a fuse between the HOT terminal of the battery and the HOT wire and a 102" steel whip. I always install the fuse at the battery in lieu of inside the vehicles.

I'm done with amps in my vehicles. Routing the wiring for the amp from the engine compartment to the cab, where to install and mount the amp and having a jumper cable from the radio to the amp was sort of a PITA to deal with. I sold all of my mobile amps. Also, there are positives and negatives with a mobile amp with a preamp.
My next plan of action is to buy a new Stryker 447 or 497 and a Stryker SR-A10 Mag Base antenna for each new vehicle and have the carrier set to about seventy-five percent of maximum output and that's it.
I'm on the CB only when traveling within the range of a few base stations and if and when the skip causes excessive interference / disturbance, we use our cell phones. The days of driving on the highway and listening and talking to truckers and other CBers are long-gone.

Yes I can understand your sentiment about PITA! Crawling around and routing wires in these new engine compartments is just that, with Arthritis. That's why it hasn't been done already. Thanks for your Tips and good luck with your Ventures.
PS. I'm also thinking about putting a new hard top cab on my Kubota tractor and know that will be a PITA also but keep me from Freezing in snow removal. Decisions Decisions UGG !
