11 vs 10 meter

Export radio's like that need a conversion mod to function on the cb 11m band. If all you talk is AM then you will have more power and you can do some freebanding. Stay off the 10m ham band unless you just want to listen. If FM takes off then your covered on that mode. Honestly as suggested, get a radio that also does SSB you will be glad you did.

The new President Richards are glorified CB radios. The are dual final if I recall correctly. They are made to compare to a Cobra 29 in size. If you want a Cobra 29 size radio that got dual final transistors keep it. Lots of videos on YouTube about tune up. Look at CBrepairguy, and Bells CB for videos.

Thanks for all the input. There was no mod required for 11 Meter operation, CB works fine. I have not tried the 10 Meter yet but, I can only listen there anyways. Figured out the menues and now studying for licence,,, there is much to learn. FM is interesting but, not much use for me yet. Scan function is very useful.

Radios have come a long way since the 70s.

It seems to run 11 meter just fine yet all references on line say you need a mod to do 11 meter.
Ya it’s a nice CB. Made to be a big talker on 11 AM. It’s got FM so you will be ready for that change if the mode ever takes off on CB.

They just call it a “10 meter” radio to skirt the laws. You have to run a little jumper wire inside and do something in the menu to make it work on 11. If you see a “10 meter” radio that has 40channels its just a undercover CB. Never actually meant to work on ham radio.

The Lincoln II+ is a radio that can live in both ham and CB worlds.. Channels and VFO. Does AM/FM/SSB. Repeater splits and PL/DPL. Etc etc
