Some north / south openings this afternoon on 15 meters, heard a lot of Mexico coming through. One station from Mexico City was booming in, but he signed off before I had a clear shot at him.
Spent some time turning the VFO on 20 meters, and not only was it open, it was a zoo.........holiday weekend, and everybody was on chasing Dx.

Then I checked into the Maritime Mobile Service Net and got a request from net control in Miami (FL) to handle relay ops. I check into that net whenever I can, and that was the first time they asked me to do relay duty. Turns out the net control operator lived in the area before moving to Florida, he knew exactly where my QTH is in relation to the Atlantic Ocean, and figured I was in a good location to hit any Maritime stations out of his northern reach.....

Who was your the NCS station in MIA?, do you recall?
I check on the net everyday, and stay on it either while ground or air mobile. (I am a cargo airline crew.)
The Maritime net and the whole 14.300 group does a great job and I try to do as much as I can in their support.

It was Dale / KR4OR....

Same here with the support on the MMSN, grew up around the water surrounded by the commercial and sport fishing industry. Spend a lot of time on the water, and know all too well how things can turn to shit on you in a hurry out there.
I always have a VHF Marine radio tuned to Ch# 16, and have provided emergency relays from small craft in distress in the back bay and rivers to the Coast Guard stations. When I got my General ticket and an HF transceiver, the Maritime Mobile Service Net was a natural progression.
My only problem is, my 20 meter dipole antenna is somewhat limited, and propagation during the last few months has been dismal, I've spent entire afternoons monitoring 14.300 and barely heard a peep from anyone. The last couple of days the conditions have been much better, especially north / south propagation, so Dale down in Miami was an easy hit from the South Jersey coast.....
