ok this might be or sound confusing but lets give it a try. scenario#1

this is on 2 antenna set up. tune 1st antenna to lowest swr then move it to the back

then 2nd antenna in front again tune for lowest swr.endedd with 1.1 swr using just a barefoot radio.

now connect the amp with amp on damm 52 watts of reflect on bird meter of course

re check with a swr meter yeap high 1.8 swr.ok now we start over again rear antenna in the front tune for lowest swr/reflect move it to the back put front one on tune for lowest reflect/swr. now here is were i'm confused ended with a 1.1 swr with 3 watts of reflect.

also i notice on scenario#1 antenna was a certain lenght=stinger height.

scenario#2 ended with stinger a bit higher than the 1st test.

by the way i recheck and tested the swr with 2 different radios same results.

now i need to figuire out what change. but still ended with same results.??

Couple of questions...
Are you trying to set this up as both antennas driven?
Rear Antenna as a "Back Door" ?
What is the spacing.......coax type, length, type of antennas....give us all the detail you can and we will try to help.

rear grounded front hot spacing is 6 ft 8' coax is belden 9913f vf .84 from radio to amp is 6 ft from amp to meter is 6 ft from meter to antenna is 12 ft

Do you know the typical response in SWR when you add either a director or reflector to a driven antenna? Doesn't matter if that "director"/"reflector" is the same length, longer, or shorter.

Lets see if Linearone gets in here on this thread, he has played with these set ups.
If I understand right, you are going to have to add some length to the rear antenna, using it as a reflector.
With out any input from anyone, I would start as you have, then after mounting both antennas, work with adjusting the rear antenna, and look at swr while adjusting length of the back antenna.
I would also look at field strength readings to see how it is working as far as rejection out the back. That is how I would approach it, some of the guys on here have much more experience with bounce back setups and may be able to offer info that could save a lot of testing....

I've never messed with a set-up like this, but it sure seems like an antenna analyzer would pay for itself pretty quick trying to tune it in.

the front antenna is 5 inches shorter than the the rear one

That sounds like it is right........so I do not know why the reflect is going up so much.........where are all the Comp guys when you need them?

thanks maybe my wording or asking didn't make sense lets try it this way

they say to tune the antenna with a barefoot radio to lowest swr. that part we understand.
if we add an amp and the swr goes up then the amp need to be retune-
and that if you change the jumpers and the swr go down with amp on then there is a problem. but i did it differently i re tune the antenna with the amp ON.instead of changing the jumpers and still was able to get the same SWR as it was with just the radio.the only difference is this
barefoot front antenna stinger lenght=57 rear=62 1/2
amp ON front=58 and rear=63
so am i close on target here with tunning .
