I just received my latest batch of 200's, and part of the modification for the talkback is no longer the same. The portion of the procedure where D9 has one leg lifted is no longer accurate. There has been some kind of circuit revision about which I do not yet have info, and D9 is no longer in its usual position. It has been replaced by what looks like either a discrete diode or resistor. I'm going to continue to try to find out what the new mod is, but if anyone happens to know about the changes, please post what you know here.

OK, I spoke with Mr. Ramon Sandoval at Cobra, and here's the poop. The 200GTL's with serial numbers ending in 2461 and higher have talkback from the factory. However, due to a factory snafu, it only works with the internal speaker. To enable the external for talkback, simply use the diagram shown below.

I bought mine used and I think it was modified for talkback because it comes out the external speaker too....at lower levels even with the echo turned off.

I hate it :x How does one remove the talkback?
tnx,

I have experienced that the audio levels that were comming out of the PA speaker were extremely high doing that mod. If one experiences the same problem, they can either install a 56 Ohm resistor (standard with all of the radios I send out) or use a 100 Ohm VR and get the adjustment exactly where you want it.
