Hey brew,
Just goes to show you that conditions can pop in at anytime. That is what makes the hobby so cool. Sometimes you don't hear anything on the band, and you pick up the microphone give a call and you wind up with a pileup wnating to talk to you, that is what is fun. I hope that you continue to enjoy your new hobby and pursue it to its fullest extent. Don't let anyone tell you that Ham radio isn't fun either, just gives you so much more flexibility. A lot more bands for alot more propagation. You just keep leanring and experimenting and having fun because thats what it is all about.
