Not sure if this is a problem with a component or just the way it is but on strong receive signals like channel 19 am or a ssb frequency with a birdie or strong signal showing s7 on the rf meter if you switch to mod, swr etc the meter still shows the s7 reading. If you have it set for modulation and key the mic it goes to 0 and then when you speak it shows the modulation ok. Same on swr cal or swr. The meter seems to work ok but I figured if you switch to the modulation mode it would drop to 0 till you keyed up and start talking. My Emperor works like that, drops off till you key up and speak. I changed c302 that is in that circuit but no change. If someone has a 2510 check it out and let me know if yours does this also.

I moved recently so mine is packed up but if I come across it by the weekend I will take it out and give it a try. I have not used mine in about 4 years. I have to admit I only use the SWR function and then leave it in RF sensing mode I have never even tried the modulation function. Mine is a President Lincoln but I would imagine that the meter function logic would be the same across the family 2510,2600,Lincoln etc.....If I forget just remind me and I will dig it out and check it will not take long to do.

If it is accurate and responding to input I would not worry about it from a repair standpoint. I doubt that anything minor like a discrete resistor or diode would cause such a thing so it would more then likely be in an ic if it is in fact a malfunction.

Could contact Roger Bird he could more then likely tell you off the top of his head if this is normal or not!
