i run one of these for a base..for ssb using the stock mic , how do you set the mic gain..i have a 575m6 but got tired of constanatly having to fiddle with the gain on the radio and the mic and the tone slide depending on how far the person im talking to is..wadda ya do,just turn the gain all the up and forget it ,for the stock one ?

What works for me is to start with the mic gain all the way off. Then, while looking at the wattmeter, say "AAHHH" into the mic while turning up the gain.

As you increase the gain, watch for the point where the wattage stops increasing. Then back off the gain until you see a very slight decrease in power.

That has always seemed to work well for me on just about any SSB radio and mic.

That's not a bad way to do it. You shouldn't have to keep adjusting it. Once you get it set to where you like it, leave it alone. It helps if you have a way to monitor yourself while adjusting it.

i agree .the tone control adjust for your voice mines all the way down
but if ya have a deep voice this wont work.set it midway and adjust from
there.once this is set leave it be.id do this with someone ya trust for
honest opion wife,kids,ect
