2nd Gen RCI 2970DX

Hi guys,

Asked question on another forum here but it may not be seen there as much.

The 2nd generation 2970DX with the green display and full across the bottom heat sink....I've seen a pic of the bottom and it has a cover plate over most of it.

So is there also an internal cooling fan in there....or is it just all heat sink?

The full cover plate is only on the N2. The dx model you want do not have a cover plate or fan they are all fins no fan on it. Dont want to confuse you.
The original answer was on the N2 not DX model.

When the second generation 2970DX first came out years ago it had the GIANT heat sink that covered the whole radio just like the origional orange display version. There was NO FAN on these.

Next they came out with the low profile version that had a small 4" x 4" little bump on the bottom. This version DID have a fan in there. Hope this helps.
