Anyone ever tried one of these? I just built one using ~53' wire and a 13' counterpoise. The wire is only up about 8'. I'm thinking about eventually going with a ~175' wire up higher, but right now I'm experimenting with this one that I made out of wire from a horizontal loop antenna that came down during a storm.
I also have a new LDG tuner, but I haven't put it inline yet. Feedline is 50' RG-213 plus about 15' of mini 8 wound into an air core choke at the shack end.
I checked it on 160, 80, 40, 20, 15, 10 and 6M and the swr is usable sans tuner, on all of those bands. However it gave me RF burn on 160 and mild burn on 75, when I transmitted. Swr was very low on both of those bands. I'll probably add a quarter wave wire to the counterpoise on 160 and 80.
It works great on 40.

Air core/ Ugly Baluns can be very narrow banded and sometimes cause more problems than they solve, especially a lot of CMC. If you're getting bit sounds like it's not cutting the mustard. A 1:1 choke made with one or more ferrite toroids will actually make a difference. Not difficult or expensive to DIY. Plenty of info out there.
