Hi guys and gals.
I have a 2980 wx but it takes up too much room. I can get a 95T for a swap and get some cash back in the deal.
Which would y'all pefer the 2980 or 95T. Both are in excellent shape.
Thanks
God Bless

The 95T and 95T2 (had one) are trucker radios. You can't put a power mic on them, they just over-modulate. No way to get it right; tried all the tricks.

If using a power mic, the talkback cannot be used. I will just squeal. The only mics that worked on mine was the stock mic - or a noise-cancelling mic - like the Road King 56.

MUCH better off with the 2980 for your base station. You can use all kinds of mics with that radio. Better features for a base radio too.
I have to agree with the others . . .

Galaxy 95t mobile wiring question

Maybe you guys could help me out. Will I be able to run a 95t in my car just wired right to the battery? Do you think this could cause any issues with my car at all? i have 6 gauge wire now on my galaxy 77hml. will this be good enough for the 95T? Ive read some issues with the power cord melting and heat issues? anything I need to be aware of before going through with this purchse? I have a palomar 225 now but just dont have the room in the car to put the amp so I figured I go with a higher power radio and forget the amp.
Thanks !

shouldn't be a problem at all 221 . the 6 gauge wire you already have run is thicker and handles more power than 8 gauge . 8 gauge will work fine as well . but if already got the 6 gauge why buy and put in something smaller ?

btw , be sure to fuse it at the battery terminal to protect the VEHICLE . (y)

Great ! just hoping to make the right choice and not regret it later. I love my 77 but i think a 95t or 95t2 would make me even happier. trying to avoid running the extra amp. I just hope its still for sale next weekend when I have some extra cash to play with.
Thanks!

Got my new/used Galaxy 95t today

Picked up my Galaxy 95T today, I shouldn't have spent the money but figured this will be the last radio purchase, so F it. Just tonight in a thunderstorm spoke to S.E. corner of Alabama on 28 AM, he wasnt moving my needle but we were talking I couldnt believe it, must be skip I guess. Also Virgina on 38 lower. so far so good with this radio. When going to get this radio today going up I95 north I got tons of flowers on my 77hml. Never had so many flowers on that 77 than I got today.. oh well got my new 95t now. So far happy as hell with my new purchase!

P.S. I am using a 2018 Extreme mic on it and it seems fine according to reports so far.

My 95t is a great radio. Stable on SSB. People have ask me if I was running a ham rig and I can run a powermic on mine. I run a fan on the bottom to keep it nice and cool. Run it on the base.

i've run the 95T for 3 years absolutly trouble free. i also use the RCI 2950dx radios and i gotta say the 2950 is only slightly better and the only reason i say that is because of the fact you can use the channel selector as vfo tuning or continuous tuning to get frequencies like 27.5700 or 27.3900, you can also do iyt with the 95T but it's kind of a pain to do it using the coarse portion of the clarifier. but i think the 95T has better transmit and receive. many times when i go on 10 meters with the 95T the hamsters are shocked or act shocked when i tell them i'm talking on a Galaxy radio and not a Yaesu or icom. have talked all over the world on SSB with just the 175 watts out the radio and a 17"shaft 10k antenna. the 95T is galaxies best sideband radio yet 6 digit freq. counter and very stable after 5 min warm up. i found also the cheap little cobra M75 power mic works great gives good clean audio and packs some extra punch with out distortion. also the sky thumper mic works great too.

Glad to hear the good reports on the 95T2. I just traded for one and am looking forward to hooking it up.
