My neighbor and good friend past away, after 35 years over the road. His wife gave me his radio, its a Uniden Grant, it's been modded how I'm not sure. It works great except the mic cord is falling apart, it's a Road King RK56 Telex 5 pin. I've looked on line for a replacement and don't see 5 pin mics listed anywhere. I also need to say I haven't had a cb since the 80's, lately where I drive cell service is spotty and would like a backup plan. The Grant I plan on using as a base station, I've looked into compacts and think the President Bill 2 would fit the bill for my Ram truck. Any ideas or suggestions will be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Welcome.
Sad to hear about your good friend passing. It will always be tough and just like anything else, it takes time. Hope you do feel better as time goes on.
Nice radio. I always liked the Grant radios. What Grant is yours? I know the first few looked the same in the front, but physically and the back of the radio it is different. It is either a 858 pll or a MB8719 like the boards used in the Cobra 140/142 GTL and others. Then of course the Grant XL which is like the Cobra 148 GTL.

I got an amazon link for a 5 pin mic that should work with your Grant.
MIC/Microphone for 5 pin SSB Cobra 148 / Uniden Grant CB Radio - Workman DM507-5

But if you don't like that style, just do a search for 'cb radio 5 pin mic' on Amazon and there should be some places to buy a mic. If you are hand with a soldering iron, you can always use that 5 pin mic end of your current mic and solder up a different mic you like. There are options. :) Hope you get the radio back on the air.

My condolences to his widow, family and to you.

That's a really good radio and the microphone is a great one too so keep it! Replacing the mic cord isn't a hard task and the cord is easily obtainable.
If you're wanting a mic to get you by in the meantime a superstar dm-507-5 is not expensive and should pair well with that radio. Any microphone wired 5 pin uniden will do the trick.

Just my thoughts.
