A99 vs new 18' tram

I'm finding reports that say A99 is 8.2db and 9.9, so how the new tram antenna stack up next to it?

The gain claims of the A99 are pure market bollocks.

It's a halfwave antenna that performs like a halfwave antenna. The Tram at 18ft is a halfwave antenna too. I doubt very much that you'd notice any difference between the two

I had to Google it , now I know what it looks like .... and A-99 which I have run for many years with NP's . Like said by MOGVZ it's still a half wave . Just a matter of preference I guess ?

The last 3 paragraphs of this article are the MOST important part...Some of the construction Technics have been improved...but the end result is still the same...Still just an end feed half wave...and likely the Tram is a Chinese clone...So the decision is yours.
Most call the "99" the splatter rod...
I love though how he mentioned the old "Ringo" antenna as being better and very close in gain to even the 5/8th antenna.

Really 9.9 that must be compared to a rubber ducky antenna?

I think 9.9db Gain over a screen door on a Submarine may be closer.

that would be 9.9dbi...not even close...because that would equate to 7.7 dbd gain...that's more gain than a 3 element yagi...Sorry! But wrong answer...

Gary ( Bj ) I have an old Ringo I got out of the trash , but it's short I assume and I hate to use that word . I still haven't got around to finding the measurements for 11m . But now you have me thinking ! I always wanted to try one years back . Now I have to find a place around here ( or some place ) to purchase the tubing to extend it . 73 & God Bless , Leo Guess I better send Marconi a PM to make short work of it .

I have run into issues with my housing edition. trying to construct a stealthy mode for a dipole. the tram is out, I get it.....1/4 wave....1/2 wave....vs 5/8 wave. less band. be better using a maco V5000 but I doubt I will get them in the air to be honest. I might get a 102" whip with a ground plain out without anyone snooping..

GnawBone , # 1 Welcome to the forum ! #2 Can you get away with painting it Sky Blue or Camo It ? IDK your QTH so it's hard for me to recommend a color , I know people it your situation have painted them . Or hang a wire they work well and simple lots of info on this site how to make one .
