Hello all, I need some help on this one, I have the Alinco dx70t and have little to no receive on the 50mhz side, hf side works great, but 6 only receives close up stations like a mile or two, anything over ten or so I can't hear them, they can hear me @10 watts. I looked in the service manual for any 50mhz adjustments for receive on ssb and did not see any. Only for hf 160-10. I'm missing the big picture. N2OG

Have you tried to reset the CPU?

How exactly are you testing the receive on 6m and what kind of antenna are you using? Local terrain is abig factor as well. If there's no propagation, which is most of the time, then you're not going to hear anything except very local stations. I have a DX-70TH and have yet to make a 6m contact. I guess I don't try very often.

I have the ringo vertical and I also have a two element yagi both for 6 meters, I also have the kenwood ts480s that also has 6 meters and I have no problems hearing anyone near or far, there is a problem with the receive in the Alinco, and the service manual sucks for that rig, just my opinion.

That is the last thing you need to look for. If the radio was working and then quit, there is a failure from a component or a mechanical connection.
The DX70 is know for bad solder joints and this is where you need to focus your attention. Also note a bad solder joint can lead to component failure, like relays ect.

This radio had this problem from the day I bought it from another ham. Looking at the reprint of the block diagram that is not real easy to make out, there is a 50mhz rx amp and I cannot make out any part number, will have to remove covers again and check it and all solder joints, I don't know if the ham I bought it from knew it did not work well on 6, but maybe he did and said sell it!, he does it allot. and there could be a relay just for 6? not sure yet. need to find a better service manual.

Ok, that makes sense then. You did not say in the beginning post so can only make suggestions. I also take it that there is low receive on every mod of 6 meters?
I agree about the service manual. Everyone I have seen is a scanned copy and they are horrible. The best way to troubleshoot is to inject a signal in to the board connector for 6 meters and scope you way towards the RF amp. Since it had low receive we know the oscillators are working. If the solder joints looks ok and nothing shorted on the part it will be the RF amp.

Ok, I have only tried ssb, and fm simplex and no fm repeaters for 6m, only 10m repeaters and they were fine, and you mean RX amp, as TX is fine, the other station that is 24 miles away heard me 55/57 but I could not hear him on this radio, but on my ts480 I have him 59 and he has my signal around the same. I have an old heathkit signal generator I will check and see if it still works, have not used it in over 30 years hi hi.

It needs the 2sk2171-4, and nobody has them, I will call Alinco today, and maybe just maybe they will still have them.
