AM wattage decreases when I Transmit

I just installed an MFJ SURGE PROTECTOR and noticed that when I modulate on AM side the wattage drops on my meter. My SWRs are perfect.
any ideas?

You might want to verify the connections or the drawing. The radio goes into the RTX and the ANT goes to the SWR meter.
