I bought one of these from HRO the other day. It seems like a darn good meter so far. I compared it with the output of my TS-590 and my RM Italy HLA 150V driven by my FLEX 1500 using my old Telepost LP100A that I traded to a friend. It shows a respectable comparison in output with the Telepost.

It comes with a wal wart, plus it can be powered by a internal 9 volt battery. The lamp meter is bypassed on battery. At least it can be taken portable and used for peak readings. it also has the ability to place the coupling for remote installation. I don't recall how long the remote cable is, but I think it's around 6' or better. The mobile version has an even longer cable. I like the looks of it and it has a nice weight to it as well. The price isn't to bad either for what you get. Yes MFJ owns Ameritron....:D

Anyway, I like the damn thing.

EDIT: I guess this should be moved to the review section.

Ive always thought about purchasing one of these. I have the big 6 inch peak reading MFJ 868 models it also uses a 12 volt source or walwart or the internal 9 volt battery for field or portable use. I had added a switch to the back for the ability to turn the meter lamp or light off. Its a nice meter and reads correctly and is easier for me to read from a distance considering I have a blinding eye disease.

Alot of the amateur operators such as myself dont rely or really care about True Peak Reading but I do like the fact that of all the meters I own 7 or 8 of them have the ability to read these peak measurments because it is rather interesting to get to see that extra % that your typical AVG/PEP meters dont show you.

Do you still like this meter?
I have been thinking about buying the Ameritron or the PALSTAR PM2000A. The Ameritron would look better since my HF amp is an Ameritron as well.

Yes, use it daily. I've owned the Palstar also. I like the Ameritron better. The Palstar is a good meter also.

The only think I dislike is the slow decay time in peak mode.
