I have seen a couple builders using those Megawatt power supplies in a amp or two they was building, why are they using them ?......just curious, I saw somewhere one of them made the remark it wasn't holding the right voltage the amp needed while under a load, the guy then added another ps.......

A regulated power supply is a step up from the unregulated supplies in some cb amps. As long as the builder uses an adequate size supply, they aren't being affected by RF or causing receiver noise I don't see anything wrong with using one. The main reason is probably cost. Lighter weight makes the amp cheaper to ship too.

The P/S is one of the most expensive part of any amplifier.

The more watts you want the bigger the PS needs to be amperage and high voltage.
