In addition to the above, I use:

Prep-sol 3919 Pre-paint degreaser
Adams tire and rubber cleaner ... best general purpose cleaner/emulsifier I know. Excellent for knobs, cabinets, faceplates, whatever. Water soluble. I used to use Bleeche white, but their "new and improved" formula sucks.
ReaLemon 100% lemon juice ... excellent solder flux remover
