You might think that "coax cleaner" is a joke, but we actually had such a substance at the cable company. It was an industrial strength orange cleaner that was marketed, at the time, specifically for cleaning the sticky gunk on flooded coax. Nobody ever used it for that, but it worked excellent on cleaning the similar substance inside fiber bundles. When I stopped working there, I acquired a couple bottles, but I used the last of it about 5 years ago. I need to get more. It was better than any substance normally available to the public.
