I use a PL259 to Type-N female adapter.
Then I'm able to use real connectors...
Type-N are easy to install if you have the crimp tool. For VHF and UHF operation they have much better frequency response. If you're operating at 3.5MHz you could almost use gator clips...
Not that one. I'll take a picture of the better crimp tool after getting home from NEAR-Fest next week. I've had to redo many hex crimped connectors done with that tool.
I have been thinking of switching to crimp connectors as well especially for indoors stuff. After i am comfortable with them I will use them outdoors as well. Just don't trust myself/them at the top of the tower yet. I would like to know what the better crimp connectors and tool is to use as well. Part numbers etc.
