Antenna coax

The Wilson 5000 mag comes with rg8x coax. How much power can that coax take? I have another mag that has rg58 coax. What power handling difference is there between the two?

With good coax into a well tuned load RG58 is usually good to about 400 watts and RG8X to 800 watts. Hard to tell the quality of the coax included with mag mount antennas.

With the Wilson as a CB antenna, the RG-8X will handle full legal power with ease.

Given the full legal power is 4 watts, yes it will as will RG58.

RG-8 coax is .4 of an inch in diameter, unless it is mini-8.
Usually the Sirio mag mounts and all other mounts come with RG-58 - IIRC . . .

If you got the sirio mag mount, the coax is very easy to change out. I have changed mine to lmr240. Works well for me. But yes the stock rg58 will handle about 400 watts.
